Fuselage 9 (1.5 hrs)

Today I set about match drilling the flap bearing blocks in order to install the forward nut plates.

This required the use of a 90degree drill.

Here is a good shot of the two bearing block attachment holes and the area of the lap belt attachment point that was removed to allow bolt access.

Then it was on to cutting, deburring and drilling multiple floor stiffeners.

Fuselage 8 (3.0 hrs)

On this evenings agenda was filing down the rear seat lap belt attachment points in order to allow access to the flap bearing brace’s rear bolt. I used a thin socket to roughly mark the area to be removed. Left side shown.

I started by using the dremel with a small sanding attachment. The location makes the going slow and difficult. You can see the first pass here.

This was enough to allow access to the socket.

Here is the right side after the first pass.

I cleaned the areas up with small files, sand paper, and finally scotchbrite pads. It was slow going, but I’m happy with the end result.

Fuselage 7 (1.5 hrs)

Leaving off from last session, we pick right backup by installing the nut plates on the angles shown below.

Then it was time for more match drilling. In this instance the rear seat footwells and web inserts.
