Rudder 1 (1.0 hr)

After finishing all the priming prep for the vertical stabilizer its time for the rudder.  I found all the appropriate parts for the rudder and laid them out.  Then I set about removing the blue protective coating with my soldering iron.  My wife helped me remove some of the protective coating but we had a bit of a whoops at the end, putting a very small crinkle in the rudder skin.  I was a little upset, but its barely noticeable.  20130413-171519.jpg

Vertical Stab 3 (3.0 hrs)

Today I finished all the match drilling including the skin. All deburring is done, and I got a good start on dimpling the internal parts.

I’m contemplating my next priming. I can either do the vertical stab as one batch, or begin work on the rudder. Right now, I’m leaning towards doing a small batch for the vertical stab to keep my momentum going. It’s good to make tangible progress in the firm of completed parts.
