Hangar!!!

I’ve got a hangar and a hangar mate!  Jim Bates, who is also building an RV-8, is going to share the space with me and use it as temporary storage for his plane.  I’ll have plenty of space left over to build until I’m further along.

Unfortunately, the hangar doesn’t have a full concrete floor, but I’m on the list for a larger one.

This feels like a small, but major step, towards having a flying plane of my own.

A friend from the EAA Chapter came over today to help me rivet.  He’s thinking to build his own plane eventually and eager to learn.  With his help I was able to almost complete all of the riveting required for the leading edge.  Some of the ribs still need to be riveted to the spar, but the tools I had weren’t ideal so we stopped. 20140424-111358.jpg

Not a whole lot to report for this post. My friend Rishab is coming over on Sunday to help rivet, so I wanted to ensure the leading edges were dimpled and ready to go.  First step was to rivet the nutplates to the fuel tank splices.  Shown here. 20140419-202652.jpg

And then all that remained was dimpling the skins.  20140419-202701.jpg
