Wing Order Confirmation

I just received confirmation of my wing order from Van’s Aircraft. The order is scheduled to ship the week of August 17!

The only option on the wing kit is the type of fuel sensor. I chose to use a capacitive probe instead of a float.

I think I’m more excited for the wings to arrive than I was when I got the empennage kit. In part because this time I’m buying new, but mostly because this is a much larger step toward completion compared to the empennage kit.

Elevators 17 (3.5 hrs)

Today was priming day. Unlike last time, I grossly underestimated the amount if primer I needed and wound up having to refill twice!

I’m going to stop being so stingy. My time is more valuable than the primer. This should be my second to last priming session. I will have to do a mini session for the trim tab. I have a 5 day weekend for the forth of July. I’m planning to finish the elevators and get a good start on the trim tab. Wings should ship in about six weeks.

EAA Tech Counselor Inspection

John Raffensparger, the EAA tech counselor for Chapter 1384 came by yesterday evening to inspect my work on the empennage.  Everything looks in order and he said my riveting looked really good.  He also like the repairs I’d done in a few places.  Its very reassuring to know that I’m doing it correctly.
