I stopped at Harbor Freight for a few nice to have tools. I bought a bench drill press, a plastic storage bin for rivets etc, several clamps, new screwdrivers and some rags. Unfortunately I forgot a new pop rivet puller. I also ordered a Park Tools TW-1 torque wrench from Amazon. 0-60 inch pounds. It was recommended on Van’s Airforce, and is designed for bicycles.
I began riveting the skeleton for the right elevator this afternoon. Took longer than I expected due to several difficult rivets and a few alignment issues.
I just received confirmation of my wing order from Van’s Aircraft. The order is scheduled to ship the week of August 17!
The only option on the wing kit is the type of fuel sensor. I chose to use a capacitive probe instead of a float.
I think I’m more excited for the wings to arrive than I was when I got the empennage kit. In part because this time I’m buying new, but mostly because this is a much larger step toward completion compared to the empennage kit.
