First RV-7 Flight (0 hrs)

A couple of weeks ago while surfing the Internet I came across www.rvplane.com. Mike Bullock details his RV-7 build here, and it’s an excellent site… one of the best ones I’ve come across, and it was just by coincidence that Mike is located at KDMW. I contacted him and he agreed to show me his plane. Better yet he took me for a flight! The plane handled fantastically, and I really like the decisions Mike has made a long the way. His aircraft is well thought out, but doesn’t go overboard with unnecessary avionics and the like. Afterwards we bs’d for awhile and I met an aspiring young Marine who just got his PPL. I’m even more dedicated to the idea of building this plane.

Workshop (0 hrs)

Currently I have a three car garage with a large storage attic. The third bay isn’t used and has a larger door. I’m planning to set that area up as my workshop. I have a really nice workbench already and a large Kobalt tool chest (rolling with 3 stacked chests). The problem with the tool chest is that it is almost full of conventional tools. I know there are several drawers that have larger items that could be better stored elsewhere. A lot could be done to better consolidate and organize the tools that are in there now. I’m thinking that I won’t need anymore space… I will be better served to organize and label everything. Many of my current standard tools need to be replaced, so this might be a good opportunity to start moving in that direction.

My workbench will not work so well for some of the metal work. I’d like to build a few of the standard benches specifically for the project.
